Rabbits blog:
One of our focuses this term is baby animals. The children have been deeply engaged in play, exploring different animal habitats set up on a tuff tray using a variety of textured materials and resources, including a range of farm animals. They have shown wonderful imaginative play, sharing their ideas with their peers. Some children have been making the sounds the animals produce as they move them around the tray. They are also learning the names of baby animals, such as ducklings for ducks, lambs for sheep and chicks for chickens, and so on.
In the garden, the children have been focusing on their physical development by trying out different ride‑on equipment and push‑along toys. These activities encourage them to make large movements and help strengthen their core muscles.
They also showed great interest in the mud kitchen, where they explored pots and pans, discovered different weights and experimented with lifting and moving them around. The children spent a good amount of time fully engaged in their play here.
In the allotment, the children showed great interest in making bird feeders using Cheerios and pipe cleaners. With support from an adult, they demonstrated good hand–eye coordination as they carefully threaded the Cheerios onto the pipe cleaners, creating little bracelets of bird food. They were very excited to hang their feeders on the branches around the allotment.
