OWWL blog:

This week in our OWWL sessions, we have fully immersed ourselves in planting and growing activities within our allotment. We have been busy planting out a wide range of vegetables and starting others from seed.

We carefully weeded the remaining beds and sieved the soil to ensure it was ready for planting. We then planted a variety of vegetables including cucumber, courgette, different varieties of tomato, beans, potatoes and onions. From seed, we planted watermelons, rocket lettuce, onions, aubergines and carrots.

We also made a significant update to our herb bed, enhancing our growing space even further.

As part of our learning, we incorporated recycling into our growing experience by using old egg boxes, helping to remind us of the importance of reusing items. This linked to Earth Day on Wednesday, where we had meaningful discussions about looking after our planet and caring for all creatures and plants within it.

It has been a wonderful week, with all children across the centre actively involved and getting hands-on experience in our allotment area.
