Rabbits blog:

The children have thoroughly enjoyed and fully engaged with the Lunar New Year activity set provided for them to explore. They spent time recognising and naming the different animals on the cards and they practised their coordination by carefully scooping red-coloured rice with a spoon, filling their bowls and then emptying them back into the tuff tray. They also took part in painting a large box, which we used to create a vibrant red dragon.

The children have been practising their fine motor skills by working on an inset puzzle, matching each object to its corresponding space with only a little support and encouragement from the adult. They also had a turn using the gator grabber tweezers to pick up pompoms from the tuff tray, which helped them develop their hand–eye coordination. The children showed strong focus and concentration throughout the activity.

The children have been busy in the garden, helping to plant seeds as we begin preparing our crops for the allotment. They eagerly used both hands to scoop soil and fill the seed trays, taking great care as they placed the seeds inside. They were also offered some sensory play outdoors, using their hands to explore jelly — squeezing it, taking handfuls and investigating its texture with clear curiosity and enjoyment.
