Luna New Year blog:

The children have had a wonderful day celebrating Lunar New Year!  There has been a 'sea' of red running across the Centre, which has been wonderful to see!

In Kits, the babies have enjoyed their Tuff tray filled with coloured pasta, using chopsticks to stir and move it around. The Kits joined in with dancing to music and playing instruments too!

In Rabbits, the children have loved the Tuff Tray that has been filled with red, glittery rice, with bowls and spoons for scooping, and hidden zodiac animals.  The children also enjoyed using the chunky stampers to decorate lanterns too!

In the Hedgehog base, the children have been using various different types of media to explore the colours of red, yellow and gold traditionally associated with this celebration. They have used loose parts to make patterns and arrangements, made marks using gold paint on a red background and collaged some red and yellow decorations. One of the children came to the nursery in a beautiful dress reflecting the costumes that might be worn during the celebrations.

In the Foxes base, the children enjoyed making and decorating their lion, then using it for a 'Lion Dance.'.   As part of their Expressive Arts and Design, the children have been making lanterns, cutting spiral snakes and drawing characters from the Chinese story 'The Big Race'
